Reflexology

Provided by Melissa

Foot reflexology is a pressure technique performed on the base of one’s feet.   It was founded on the belief that there are reference points here that correspond to all parts of the body.  When pressure is applied to these points “blockages” within that corresponding body part are aided in their healing, bring the body back to homeostasis. It’s natural working state.

The four main benefits of reflexology include:

  1. Relaxation
  2. Enhanced circulation
  3. Assists the body to normalize the metabolism naturally
  4. Complements all other healing modalities

Myofascial Release

Provided by Nathalie and Rachel

Myofascial Release (MFR) helps eliminate pain and fascial (connective tissue) restriction from the body, improves range of motion and enhances your body awareness for prevention of further pain and/or injury.

MFR is a hands-on, whole body approach to treatment which evaluates and treats the root cause of the symptoms. The Therapist applies a variety of pressures, from light to deep, in combination with stretch and movement to release tensions and restrictions in the body. These restrictions, when left untreated, create pain and stiffness making it difficult for movement and prohibiting people from their daily activities. Restrictions develop from trauma, repetitive stress injury, poor posture, scarring, inflammatory reactions and life stressors. MFR eliminates the restrictions, taking the pressure off of pain sensitive structures in the body allowing it to function in an optimal state.

Some of the following have benefited from MFR:

  • Neck/Back Pain
  • Emotional Pain and Stress
  • Knee/Hip Pain
  • Headaches
  • Scar Tissue
  • Shoulder Pain/Dysfunction
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Myofascial Pain Syndrome
  • Disc Problems
  • Scoliosis
  • Pelvic Pain/Dysfunction
  • Tightness & Tension
  • TMJ Problems
  • Menstrual Problems
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Sports Injuries
  • Endometriosis
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Cancer Rehabilitation Therapy

Provided by Denise and Rachel

Over the past few years researchers have begun to focus on the benefits of Massage Therapy for those going through and/or just completing Cancer Therapy. It has been noted that Massage Therapy can:

  • Promote relaxation
  • Increase mobility
  • Facilitate an increase in appetite
  • Reduce pain
  • Diminish the chance of skin lesions
  • Ease spasms
  • Decrease scaring
  • Augment immune function
  • Help with body acceptance

In turn, massage therapy will hopefully, augment one’s quality of life during this incredibly stressful time.
